Favourite Movies or Series

Hello everyone

Today, I´m going to talk about my favourite movies and series. First, I would like to say you that I love the movies and series in general. One of my hobbies is going to the cinema and watching series in the TV or Netflix. I remember the first time that I went to the cinema, I was 8 or 9, I saw The Lion King, I loved it! I believe that I´ll never forget that moment.

When I was a teenager, I remember one serie that changed my life because I had never seen something that I can watch for a long time, it name was Charmed,. Really, I was hypnotized for the magic, the special effects and the history, I watched for 6 or 7 years maybe. When the serie was over, I cried, I didn´t believe that was the end.

I like whatever kind of series or movies. I can see terror, drama, romance, fantasy, cartoon, etc. But, being honest I love the film about the world destruction like "2012" and film about magic like "Harry Potter". On the other hand, I didn´t know Netflix before arriving in Chile, I think I was a ignorant about the series. I can say that my life changed heaven to earth. I don´t want to study, I only watch Netflix everyday and everynight. Thanks God, today I can control it.

I´m not to talk about Game of Thrones (GOT) because many people know it. But, I could say that it is a one of the best series created. I would like to talk about one serie "House of Cards". This serie is original of Netflix and the topic is about the US political. The main characters are Frank Underwood and Clare Underwood (husband and wife) and their principal mision is the White House possession. They do whatever thing you can imagine for that. In the first episode, you can see like the current president betrays them, but later they take revenge on everyone around until Frank Underwood becomes the Acting President. Two years later, He wins the election and He is the 45th US president. Many things happened for the next  years, but in the last season (season five) many people want to destroy it, using something he would never have imagined. Many people hate Frank (like our teacher) but you eventually end up loving him. If you like the mystery, suspense and dirty politics you can see this serie.

Hello everyone!

Today, I´m going to talk about the technology. Normally, I can say that my favourite technological equipments  are the computer and the cellphone. I don´t remember when I got each of them, maybe when I was 15.

In the past, these equipments were very expensive. I didn´t work and my parents didn´t have much money. For that, I had to wait until I was teenager. First, I was fan of Nokia telephones, I really loved them. I didn´t have preference for computer brand.

In 2012, I knew a new brand of cellphones: Iphone. It was incredible because I didn´t have much hope. But, after two days, I really loved it. Today, after five years, I have had 3 Iphones. For me, it´s one of the best inventions of technology. Currently, you can use the cellphones to whatever you want. Being honest, I´m a fan the apple technology, my laptop is of that brand too. I use them daily.

However, I can say that I like the technological equipment used in the Analytical Chemistry. I work with many instruments that allow  chemists an easier life. In my laboratory. I have equipments that allow detecting whatever thing you want, without you knowing anything. Their name are mass spectrometers (MS). For me, they are one of the best technologies in the world. These instruments are very expensive, for that I take care of them like if were my children.

For me, the technology is very important for the evolution of humanity.

Why did I choose this career?

Hi everyone!

Being honest, I don´t remember many things when I was a child. One of them was what I would be when I grew up. I always had been good with the mathematics and the sciences in general. At some point, I thought to study engineering, but I coudn´t enter the University for this career (for very few points). My plan B was to study some sciences. First, I wanted to study math, but I thought that it wasn´t correct because the maths was easy for me, and I needed more difficulty.

For this reason, I decided to study chemistry. It was love at first sight. I had thought to change in second year to engineering, but it wasn´t necesary, I really was happy studing science. After six years, I got the bachelor degree in Chemistry. They were the happiest years of my life.

Later, I worked at the University for two years like professor, at the same time that I did a PhD in Chemistry. But, I didn´t have a lot of money, I needed other job. I decided to leave the university for a new job in the oil industry. I believe, that was the best decision that I could take, I grew up as a person and as a professional. It was completely different to the university life. I had many responsabilities, better salary and I learned about chemistry instuments a lot.

But, I had a problem. I needed more. I wanted to be a PhD and in my job it was impossible. They needed analyst, not people with postgrades. For this reason and the situation in my country, I decided to continue my postgraduate studies. Currently, I am doing a PhD in Chemistry at Chile University since 2016. I like the research and to be a teacher.  In the future, I don´t know what will happen to me. I would hope a life with many chemistry, research and a lot of money.

My Autobiography

My full name is Daniel José Arismendi Peña. I was born in Caracas (Venezuela) on September 6th, 1986. When I was a child, I was very hyperactive. All my life, I have loved to study.

I began the elementary when I was 5. I was at high school for 5 years, exactly until July, 2003. That year, on October, I began my chemist life at the University Central of Venezuela. I got the bachelor degree in Chemistry on December 11th, 2009. After that, I worked in the oil industry for 5 years, I really loved my job.

In 2016, I made the decision to move to Chile. I live in Santiago with a friend. Currently, I am studying a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Chile. In this moment, I am doing my thesis in Analytical Chemistry, developing new microextraction technics of metabolites in biological fluids. I will finish in two years more (I hope that). In the future, I would like to move to Canada, but I need to learn English very well for that.

My parents´s names are María Fernanda Peña Araque (57) and Domingo Antonio Arismendi Aguana (62). She has her own business and he is mechanic. I only have one sister, Carolina (38) and two nephews, Oscar (13) and Gabriel (17). My favorite cousin is Jhosernest (27) and her son, Santiago (7) is my godson. I miss so much all of them.

I have several hobbies. Some of them: to watch movies and series, meeting with my friends, to read books. I don´t like the sports. I love traveling to know many countries and their cultures.
